Left And Right Politics

…plus the cream in the center.

Some Links Of Interest

Posted by Joanne On September - 15 - 2009

I come across good, and not so good, sites in my daily internet travels and I wanted to share some of the ones I’ve enjoyed. Hopefully you’ll find a few you enjoy as well.

The Liberator is a free newsletter from the Libertarian site, Advocates for Self-Government. The latest issue has an article on health care being called a ‘right”.

The right questions to ask about medical care and medical insurance:

* Which laws, regulations, or government mandates drive up the costs of medical care, medicine, and medical insurance?

* Which of these laws, regulations, and government mandates can your state legislature and governor repeal? Which need to be repealed by the U.S. Senate, the House, and the president?

* Which government-granted privileges and special protections has government enacted for the benefit of pharmaceutical corporations, hospitals, doctors, nurses, lawyers, or insurance companies that make medical care more expensive?

* Which of these privileges and special protections can your state legislature and governor repeal? Which need to be repealed by the U.S. Senate, the House, and the president?

100 Stimulus Projects Guaranteed To Make Your Blood Boil, is from June but I wanted to share it with you. The article comes from American Thinker and is just a fraction of what our tax dollars are paying for.

A California skate park will get a $620,000 “facelift.” Plans to refurbish the skate park in Long Beach, California, had stalled for months as local funds put towards higher priority park projects. With $620,000 in federal stimulus funding available to upgrade the skate park, the city council decided to move forward.

$800,000 for a backup runway for the now famous airport to nowhere, also known as the John Murtha airport in Johnstown. This is critical, because if they were to lose their current runway, all three flights a day and 20 daily passengers might have to find an alternative airport.

Last, but not least is Free Talk Live, a pro-liberty radio show that you can listen to on their website.

Main Stream Media: Double Standard

Posted by Billy On July - 7 - 2009

Throughout the past election I witnessed how the main stream media held the candidates to two different standards. To watch any of the network television stations was quite hard for me to do because of the favoritism that was given to President Obama (then candidate), while those same channels attacked the integrity of Senator John McCain and Governor Sara Palin.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any more obvious, I was proven wrong.

On Friday, Sara Palin announced that she was stepping down from her duties as governor of the state of Alaska. Whatever her reasons for doing so is her business, but she did share them in her announcement. Since it was a holiday weekend and most of the commentary media were off for the holiday, it wasn’t really discussed until Monday.

After listening to many different show on TV as well as the radio, I find myself appalled by the treatment that this woman is having to go through again. All I heard from the people who didn’t support her last year was that she is a quitter because she still has another eighteen months in her term.

She may be a conservative and a republican, but I see her more as a Libertarian. That is why I supported the McCain/Palin ticket. She’s turned the state of Alaska around and has cut spending and unnecessary waste by an unbelievable amount. Palin had even sold the governor’s private jet. Before she announced her departure from office, she made sure that the right people were put in place to carry on with the policies that she felt that would benefit the state. Again all I hear is that she is a quitter. I don’t look at it that way.

If these people want to label Palin as a quitter, then I guess they have many other politicians to add to that list. Let’s start with Barack Obama, a State Senator who spent most of his time campaigning for the U.S. Senate during his first term. As a U.S. Senator he spent two years of his term campaigning to be President (and continued be be paid) and then still left that office to fulfill his duties as President.

The sad thing is that it doesn’t end there. What about Joe Biden, Rahm Emmanuel and Janet Napolitano? They too did the same thing when it came time to take the position that Obama offered them.

The main stream media has sold out to politicians at the price of the American people. So the next time you’re watching TV, be aware of who you’re listening to.

Audit The Federal Reserve

Posted by Billy On July - 6 - 2009

The latest bill and/or amendment to hit the Senate leadership is a call for the auditing of the Federal Reserve. (#1367 amendment). Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) went in front of the Senate Leadership board to push for a amendment that was authored by Ron Paul (R-Tx) to do just that. It seems though that the powers that be really don’t care one bit about the freedom and secrecy of the Federal Reserve to do anything but kill the bill.

Senator Kay Hagan (D_NC) is the presiding officer, in the video clip. In it she’s asked many questions pertaining to other issues that are going on currently. Every one of her answers are the same, which is “yes”. The question that are asked are from Sen. Jim DeMint. Each one of them show a clear sign of the double standard that is going on between the Democrats and the Republicans.

These two parties have reached a point where they are no longer looking out for the American people. Their on;y concern is fro themselves and their lobbyist. Politicians like Ron Paul and Jim DeMint are just a handful of politicians that are truly trying to make a difference in Washington. When It comes time to vote we have to bond together and vote the current Senators out. They’ve grown too comfortable in their positions. Our founding fathers never meant for these positions to be a career.

United States Bankruptcy

Posted by Billy On April - 17 - 2009

The credit crisis and the housing market crash has caused this great country to once again be in need to borrow money from foreign countries to bail out the United States from bankruptcy. It’s to the point that foreign countries own 40% of the US debt that our politicians have given to the citizens of this great nation.

There was a time that the rest of the world would come to us for assistance and aid, now they just come to us for our military aid and to buy more our debt. Over the last five months, our Presidents (Bush and Obama) have passed bills to try to stimulate the economy. It will cost the United States citizens trillions of dollars to pay back the debt that has been added to our already high debt.

China has bought most of the contracts to our debt, which is a treat on our security of this country. What will happen in seven years when we are expected to pay back the Chinese for the money they let us? Will we be able to pay them back or do we just give them the rights to some of our major components of our economy as collateral.

In the last three decades, the United States have been sending many (if not most) of our factory and manufacturing jobs oversea to China. In the process, we’ve lost our edge on being the leader of the industrial age. As we enter the technology age, we’ve already started sending quite a few of those jobs to India. India is also another country that hold a lot of America’s debt. So not only are they advancing their own country’s economy, but they’re also buying our county without us even being aware of it.

Our politicians have been spending way too much money on things they can’t afford. Yes, this country needs to be put back together economically, but they are going about it all wrong. When your family is in a financial bind, do you spend more money to get a hold of the issue or do you spend less to make ends meet?

The United States is in a bad position (between a Barack and a hard place). Our government is spending money that they don’t have, China is a good position to taking over parts of our economy and India is not too far behind them doing the same thing. Add on top of all of it, the fact that we have North Korea shooting long-range missiles and our President isn’t even doing anything about it.

Write your elect official to tell them that they need to secure the safety of this country by not selling our debt to other countries that don’t really care about us. If you’re like me and prefer to talk to them on the phone, then call the U.S. Senate @ 1-202-224-3121
