Unless you’ve been too busy or live under a rock in a far away place, You are aware that last Friday Congress voted on the Cap and Trade bill (aka, cap and tax). The bill is designed by the Obama Administration to basically tax everything that emits carbon. If you’re thinking that this bill is aimed at big business and the energy sector, you’re only half right.

This will tax everything. That includes flatulent cows, that’s right cows that pass wind. It doesn’t just end there. the truck driver who drivers the cow to the slaughter house. Let’s not forget the wrapping the is needed to package the meat. All the different processing plants that are needed to get the meat to your plate. Everyone of them will have to pay higher taxes to the government because of the carbon dioxide that they produce.

If you think that won’t affect you, you are dead wrong. It’s a known fact that these costs will be passed on to the consumer.

All in the name of global warming. That’s right we are going to be taxed more to help save the entire planet from a chemical that is a basic necessity for the world to survive. The global warming concern is nothing but a political move to redistribute wealth. Many African countries don’t have an infrastructure system and don’t emit carbon emissions, so counties like America (especially the U.S.) will have to buy the carbon credits from those countries, henceforth wealth distribution.

I expect that type of planning from the Democrats but to see Republicans join the crusade is not. The final vote was 219-212 for the bill. There were eight Republicans that voted for the bill. We need to send a clear message to those eight members of Congress that helped the Democrats raise our taxes. The only way to do so is to call them and let them know that we will not contribute to their campaign because we aren’t going to vote for them.

Here are the names and phone numbers to their office. There is time for them to change their vote and if they want any chance of being re-elected, they will have to do so.

Bono Mack (CA) 202-225-5330
Castle (DE) 202-225-4165
Kirk (IL) 202-225-4835
Lance (NJ) 202-225-5361
Lobiondo (NJ) 202-225-6572
McHugh (NY) 202-225-4611
Reichart (WA) 202-225-7761
Chris Smith (NJ) 202-225-3765

Remember that when you call them to inform them of your dissatisfaction, you must state that you are a contributor. If you don’t, they really don’t care what you have to say (which is a whole other story). They only care about their campaign fund and their own wallets. Which is another reason why we need to vote all of them out when they’re up for re-election.

Since President Obama has taken on challenge of running for office, he’s been shown obvious favoritism from the main stream media. Only FOX News Channel has been negative towards Obama in any way. I will say that they(FOX) are very against the current Administration.

It now gotten to the point where the media is outright in the open with their relationship with Obama. ABC will be airing Obama’ speech titled “Prescription for America”. The purpose is for him to explain his plans for nationalized health care. While reading the Drudge Report, I found this article about how ABC won’t let a organization buy some air-time after the broadcast so they can give an alternative viewpoint. You can read it for yourself here.

I also heard today how Obama will be “making his rounds” on many different shows to get his health care message out to the people. Of course he’s being selective of who will be broadcasting it. One of the ways he’ll be doing so is by having some sort of involvement with the show “Dora the explorer”. That’s right, a cartoon. It has been stated that FOX will not be given that option and the reason is because o the fact that FOX is not a financial network. All of this is still being hashed out and I will continue to follow this atrocity.

Will Bower posted the following link on facebook tonight and I wanted to pass it along.

He said:

The four key GOP Senators who need to hear from us (try phone lines, try FAXes, try the email addresses we have listed) are: Senator Olympia Snowe (Maine), Senator Susan Collins (Maine), Senator George Voinovich (Ohio), and Senator Arlen Specter (Pennsylvania). All the contact information you need to reach these offices ASAP.

Stop The “Stimulus”

The page is a database of phone numbers, fax numbers, and emails for each Senator. They suggest you contact the two Senators from your state and then work through the rest of the list as well. In terms of effectiveness, phone calls and faxes are most important, followed by emails.

Obama’s new White House website takes a parting shot at Bush. Very classy Obama…you’re off to an impressive start. I expected more tact and grace from you after being President for only a few hours. Well, what can you expect…he’s a politician…just like all the others. So much for moving forward, common good and all that crap. *yawn*

President Obama will keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. He and Vice President Biden will take steps to ensure that the federal government will never again allow such catastrophic failures in emergency planning and response to occur.

President Obama swiftly responded to Hurricane Katrina. Citing the Bush Administration’s “unconscionable ineptitude” in responding to Hurricane Katrina, then-Senator Obama introduced legislation requiring disaster planners to take into account the specific needs of low-income hurricane victims. Obama visited thousands of Hurricane survivors in the Houston Convention Center and later took three more trips to the region. He worked with members of the Congressional Black Caucus to introduce legislation to address the immediate income, employment, business, and housing needs of Gulf Coast communities.

Barack Hussein Obama has gone ahead and appointed William J. Lynn III to be Deputy Secretary of Defense. A man who has served as under secretary of defense and comptroller in the Clinton Administration as well as the Pentagon’s CFO (chief Financial Officer).

Lynn has the experience to do the job that he was appointed to, but my problem is that William Lynn III is presently the Senior Vice President of Raytheon Co.

Why is that a problem? The problem is that Raytheon has defense contracts with the United States. In my opinion, that makes it a conflict of interests. How can this be allowed that Obama can go ahead and appoint a person who might not hold the American taxpayer’s interest as his main concern.

How can you expect a man to do the right thing with the protection of the American people when he also has responsibilities to the company that he works for to make money? You can’t. He makes his bonuses by the amount of money the company makes. If he has to choose between protecting this country the best way possible or making his multi-million dollar bonus, how can you expect him to put himself second?

If he wants to take the position of Deputy Secretary of Defense, he must resign from his position at Raytheon Co. He is human and is bound to make mistakes, but to avoid a defense issue he must do the right thing first, which is to leave Raytheon and all his responsibilities to the company

Another kick in the pants is that the Democrats had a problem with Dick Cheney getting elected to office while he still had interests in Halliburton, but have not problem of William J. Lynn III being given the position. The American people didn’t get the right to vote for this man to be put into this office. I know that it’s two different position, but isn’t the President’s job to serve this country? Or is it his duty to go ahead and give positions to people who helped get him into office?

Just as a side note, Goldman Sachs has upgraded the the stock of Raytheon to a buy from a hold. What does that tell you?

I don’t know what’s to come of this, but I will say that I will be keeping an eye on it and posting about here on this blog.

Before I switched from a Democrat to a Libertarian, I considered the Green Party. I still subscribe to their mailing list and wanted to share an email they sent me.

“Is Change On the Agenda”?

On January 20, George W. Bush’s presidency will end. President-elect Barack Obama will take office, having been elected on a platform of “change”. Many Americans are eagerly waiting to see what the new Obama Administration will do; but we already know from his Cabinet picks that “change” is not really on the agenda.

Hillary Clinton, Obama’s choice for Secretary of State, ran a hawkish campaign and will continue her husband’s aggressive pursuit of “free trade” agreements which have undermined human rights and the American economy.

Robert Gates, Obama’s pick for Secretary of Defense, is a carryover from the Bush Administration, and has overseen continued human rights abuses at Guantanamo Bay and elsewhere.

Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s new Chief of Staff, is an extreme Zionist and hawk, whose presence on Obama’s staff, combined with Clinton’s, undermines any serious potential for Middle East peace.

Tim Geithner, Obama’s selection for Secretary of Treasury, has been heavily involved in the ongoing bailout of financial firms, and began his career working for Henry Kissinger’s firm.

These choices for the most critical of Cabinet positions make it clear that the only “change” Americans can expect on the major issues of the day out of the Obama Administration are that different people will be in charge of selling out the poor and middle class.

And get this: with an administration in place that is pro-war, pro-bailout, pro-nuclear power, anti-equal rights, and anti-universal health care, the so-called “opposition” party in Washington will be the Republicans. No “opposition” party will have ever had it so good. But, of course, we know that come January 20 there will be one real opposition party: The Green Party.

With your support, an invigorated Green Party can reach new heights in the number of candidates we run and elect in 2009 and 2010, candidates who will be fighting the Democrats in control of Washington on issues that matter to people:

Bringing our troops home. The Green Party opposed the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan before they began. Now Obama wants to move troops from Iraq to Afghanistan, without pulling the plug on either war, while simultaneously rattling the sabres at Iran and Pakistan.

Demanding single-payer universal health care – now. The Obama plan might well insure more Americans, but most of those benefits will go to the insurance companies, not to the people who have been economically crippled by a corrupt health care system.

Legalizing marriage for all people. While the Obama Administration opposed same-sex marriage, the Green Party remains in staunch support for extending equal rights to all people

Bailing out working Americans, not fat cat executives. As unemployment rises, the same corporations who have been responsible for costing so many Americans their jobs whine about needing more money to keep their doors open. Greens have long opposed corporate welfare and trickle-down economics as practiced for the last 28 years, and want to see an end to free trade agreements and other mechanisms which pad executives’ pockets at the expense of working Americans.

Insisting on a real green energy policy. There is no place for mountain top removal or nuclear power in a serious 21st Century energy policy based on renewables and efficiency. Greens have long understood this. But Democrats waffle because they receive so much cash from electric utilities and other corporations.

Without serious, sustained, principled opposition from the Green Party, the Obama Administration will have a blank check to continue to push the “political center” to the extreme right, just as Bill Clinton did. The Green Party needs your support to stand up for Americans and keep America from inching even closer to energy and economic catastrophes.

Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested today on charges of trying to sell the Illinois Senate seat vacated by Barack Hussein Obama. The FBI have been collecting evidence for sometime including wiretaps that started about a month ago. They also say that there’s was no wrong doing on the part of Obama. Obama may not be involved in wrong in regards to this issue, but I believe that he’s guilty of other wrong doing during the last two years of him running for President.

The soon-to-be-former Governor has obviously been up to no good for sometime, but it took this issue to actually charge him for wrong doing. My question is why didn’t they do something quicker? Blagojevich has been shaking down companies as well a children’s hospital for money to benefit his own personal gains as well as his wife’s.

This is the type of government corruption that inspired the birth of this website. This man should have never been in politics, but because of the way politics are, he’s become successful at it. This site started when the former Senator Ted Stevens was charged with taken bribes from companies in Alaska. I know that there is a lot more of these types of politicians out there, but the problem is that they most likely won’t get caught.

Our government has been taken over by corrupted politicians that will cause this great country to fall flat on it’s patriotic face. We as Americans need to research the candidates when they are running for office. There has to be more responsiblilty on the part of the American voters to put the right person in those positions.

But, didn’t he say he was going to be different? Wasn’t it BHO who said he was going to being a new kind of politics to the White House? I could have sworn I heard him say he was going to be a different kind of politician?

From Yahoo:

Faced with hiring a new administration, President-elect Barack Obama is learning how hard it is to keep his promise to avoid aides who have been entangled with the capital’s lobbying scene.

An Associated Press review of more than 400 members of Obama’s transition team identified at least 34 who have registered in recent years to lobby government officials on behalf of clients or employers — some as recently as this summer. The AP’s review represents the most comprehensive examination to date of people working on Obama’s incoming administration.

Among the AP’s findings:

_An Obama adviser on immigration issues, Maria Echaveste, lobbied for the United Farm Workers this year to protect immigrant agricultural workers as the Bush administration sought to ease hiring of seasonal farm labor and Congress debated an immigration overhaul. Echaveste, who worked in the White House and Labor Department under President Bill Clinton, assured Obama she will not weigh in on the farmworker visa issue that was her lobbying focus.

_The former Agriculture Department official leading Obama’s agricultural policy review, Bart Chilton, lobbied until last year as vice president of the National Farmers Union. It spends hundreds of thousands of dollars each year to press for farm subsidy programs, fighting the North American Free Trade Agreement and reducing taxes on farms and ranches.

_A lawyer working on Indian issues for Obama, Keith Harper, has worked as a lawyer for Native American tribes, and wrote in a 2006 article that the Interior Department’s handling of Indian trust matters has been a “national disgrace.” Obama initially assigned Harper to be his lead adviser on the department, but now Harper is advising the campaign more narrowly on Indian gaming. Harper was registered to lobby on sovereignty issues for a tribe as recently as this year but did not personally lobby, transition aides and a tribe official said.

_An Obama transition adviser for health and human services, Bill Corr, lobbied to prevent children from smoking as executive director of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. The group has spent $675,000 this year trying to influence policymakers. Corr has told Obama he will not offer advice on tobacco issues.

_A transition advisory board member, Mark Gitenstein, was registered until August to lobby on behalf of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, AT&T Inc. and financial firms such as Ernst & Young LLP and Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. Gitenstein is working on transition management issues, not specific policies, but has agreed not to deal with topics on which he lobbied.

Overall, the people Obama is relying on to build his administration have represented unions; energy, environmental groups, insurance, and drug companies.

Also prominent on Obama’s new team are his big-money fundraisers. At least 18 of Obama’s major financial backers are helping him create his administration. They collected at least $50,000 each from friends and associates to help pay for the most expensive presidential campaign in history.

Just like we PUMA‘s have been saying all along…..Obama’s only in it for himself. He said whatever he needed to say and used whoever he needed to use to get himself elected.

FromPolitico:

Liberals are growing increasingly nervous – and some just flat-out angry – that President-elect Barack Obama seems to be stiffing them on Cabinet jobs and policy choices.

Obama has reversed pledges to immediately repeal tax cuts for the wealthy and take on Big Oil. He’s hedged his call for a quick drawdown in Iraq. And he’s stocking his White House with anything but stalwarts of the left.

Now some are shedding a reluctance to puncture the liberal euphoria at being rid of President George W. Bush to say, in effect, that the new boss looks like the old boss.

“He has confirmed what our suspicions were by surrounding himself with a centrist to right cabinet. But we do hope that before it’s all over we can get at least one authentic progressive appointment,” said Tim Carpenter, national director of the Progressive Democrats of America.

Even supporters make clear they’re on the lookout for backsliding. “There’s a concern that he keep his basic promises and people are going to watch him,” said Roger Hickey, a co-founder of Campaign for America’s Future.

The central premise of the left’s criticism is direct – don’t bite the hand that feeds, Mr. President-elect. The Internet that helped him so much during the election is lighting up with irritation and critiques.

“There don’t seem to be any liberals in Obama’s cabinet,” writes John Aravosis, the editor of Americablog.com. “What does all of this mean for Obama’s policies, and just as important, Obama Supreme Court announcements?”

“Actually, it reminds me a bit of the campaign, at least the beginning and the middle, when the Obama campaign didn’t seem particularly interested in reaching out to progressives,” Aravosis continues. “Once they realized that in order to win they needed to marshal everyone on their side, the reaching out began. I hope we’re not seeing a similar ‘we can do it alone’ approach in the transition team.”

WASHINGTON – Democrats carrying significant campaign debt after winning a string of House and Senate races are grumbling about President-elect Barack Obama‘s financial reserves, saying the party’s leader is sitting on a pile of cash while Democratic leaders are broke.

Obama’s organization retains some $30 million after his successful presidential bid, but it’s unclear how the Democratic president-in-waiting might use the money.

The Democratic National Committee is carrying about $5 million in debt, with almost $12 million cash on hand. DNC officials say they expect to have the debt paid by the end of the year. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee carries some $19 million in debt and less than $3 million on hand. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is nearly $13 million in debt.

Party officials around the country say the campaign leaders have signaled they shouldn’t expect the money to come to them directly, if at all. Instead, many party officials expect Obama to use his funds to advance his own priorities, to support his massive Internet-based organization and to have cache for special causes. With almost 4 million donors, Obama’s fundraising list could prove golden for future Obama-backed drives.

On Wednesday, Obama send a fundraising e-mail to his supporters asking them to help retire that debt by buying coffee mugs or fleece sweat shirts. Obama and Democratic aides alike say they would use similar efforts going forward, but were aware that asking too often could dilute the effectiveness of the list.
