Today Governor Sara Palin (R) of Alaska has announced that she will be resigning as of July 26th. This comes as a surprise to many Americans as well as political analysts.

She has decided not to finish out her first term as Governor of the state of Alaska. In a new conference in her home town of Wasilla, she stated “We know we can effect positive change outside government at this moment in time on another scale and actually make a difference for our priorities,” “I know when it’s time to pass the ball for victory.”

Palin, 45 was put in the spotlight after Senator John McCain nominated her to be his running mate. Throughout the campaign she was disrespected and insulted by the main stream media. From the way I see it, the Democratic party as well as candidate Obama felt threaten by her.

Unfortunately, this latest move might be the end to her political career. Leaving the Governor’s office after only fulfilling half of her term might make it hard for the Republican party to consider her again fro a national position. I could be wrong since politics and politicians have never thought logically.

Whatever Sara Palin and her family decide to do in the future, I want to wish her the best for them.

From the Anchorage Daily News:

A new report just released — hours before the polls open on Election Day — exonerates Gov. Sarah Palin in the Troopergate controversy. The state Personnel Board-sanctioned investigation is the second into whether Palin violated state ethics law in firing her public safety commissioner, and it contradicts the earlier findings by a special counsel hired by the state Legislature.

Both investigations found that Palin was within her rights to fire Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. But the new report says the Legislature’s investigator was wrong to conclude that Palin abused her power by allowing aides and her husband, Todd, to pressure Monegan and others to dismiss her ex-brother-in-law, Trooper Mike Wooten. Palin was accused of firing Monegan after Wooten stayed on the job.

Gov. Sarah Palin met with a group of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s former supporters Tuesday, October 14, at a special fund-raising reception organized for them on behalf of the Republican ticket.

The reception for former Clinton supporters, which also was attended by Rick Davis, the McCain campaign manager, was spearheaded by Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a former telecommunications entrepreneur and “Hillraiser” who brought in more than $100,000 for Mrs. Clinton’s campaign; Calvin Fayard, also a former Hillraiser and longtime Democratic donor from Louisiana, and Miguel Lausell, a former senior political adviser to the Clinton campaign from Puerto Rico. Other prominent former Clinton supporters in attendance included John Coale, a former Hillraiser, Washington lawyer and husband of Fox News television host Greta Van Susteren.

“These people want to give their vote of disapproval,” said Mr. Lausell. “This is a way they’re doing it.”

McCain-Palin 2008 announced that more than 100 former U.S. ambassadors are endorsing Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin for president and vice president.

Prominent former U.S. ambassadors endorsing the McCain-Palin ticket include former Ambassador to Japan, Senate Majority Leader and White House Chief of Staff Howard Baker; President George H. W. Bush, former Ambassador to the United Nations; former Ambassador to Yugoslavia and former Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger; former Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton; former Secretary of Defense and former Ambassador to Portugal, Frank Carlucci III; former Ambassador to the Vatican and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Jim Nicholson; and Ambassadors Richard Burt (Germany), Bruce Gelb (Belgium), Margaret Heckler (Ireland), John L. Loeb (Denmark), Ed Ney (Canada) and Julia Chang Bloch (Nepal), the first U.S. ambassador of Asian descent.

Democrat Mark W. Erwin, a former Hillary Clinton supporter and an ambassador during the Clinton administration, is co-chair of the group. “I will vote for John McCain because the differences between the two candidates are so vast and profound,” he said.

“Senator Obama does not have sufficient leadership experience, nor has he been tested in difficult times,” Erwin said in his endorsement.

Other co-chairmen of the group called “Former U.S. Ambassadors for McCain/Palin” are former U.S. Ambassador to Sweden Gregory J. Newell and former Ambassador Gilbert A. Robinson, both of whom served in the Reagan administration. Newell also served as an assistant to President Gerald Ford and as Assistant Secretary of State. Robinson was special adviser to Secretary of State George Shultz, Director of the Office of Public Diplomacy and Deputy Director of the United States Information Agency.

“Nobody could ask for a greater show of confidence,” Sen. McCain commented. “These former ambassadors are outstanding men and women who have served their country in foreign lands with great distinction and devotion to the values we all hold dear. They have a deep knowledge of the challenges facing this country abroad as well as at home. I am honored by their endorsement.”

Ambassador Robinson added, “The endorsements from this country’s most experienced foreign affairs experts are still pouring in. This demonstrates the overwhelming admiration and respect they have for John McCain’s leadership and the confidence they have in the historic McCain-Palin ticket.”

Hard economic times, a disappointing Republican administration and the seductive promises of a master orator are pushing America toward a European-style social democracy.

If you don’t want that to happen, vote for Republican Sen. John McCain.

McCain understands that U.S. companies must compete worldwide and shouldn’t have to pay one of the world’s highest corporate tax rates. He knows that federal spending is out of control. He knows that economic growth only comes from hard work and real investment, not through wholesale redistribution of tax dollars as Obama promises.

Obama became a political celebrity by representing the disaffected. He is generating unprecedented enthusiasm among the young and the poor, and their participation is welcome. Yet mainstream voters need to understand that the change these voters want will have historic consequences. Obama’s future America is largely unrestrained by many of the traditional values long held by Middle America.

Obama promises a tax cut for 95 percent of households, even though only 62 percent of households pay any income tax now. Taxes would increase sharply for households making more than $250,000 a year — a policy that penalizes success.

For president, the Tribune endorses Sen. John McCain.

HISPANIC DEMOCRATS FOR MCCAIN ANNOUNCE:

HOUSTON, TX, OCTOBER 7, 2008 – Hispanic Democrats for McCain (HDM) announced the launch of their latest grassroots resource,
www.HispanicDemocratsforMcCain.com, today. Fellow volunteers across the country will be able to communicate the McCain-Palin message and to encourage Democrats to vote across party lines on November 4, 2008 using the sites tools and resources.

“There is a reason why John McCain has been able to earn more than 70% of the Hispanic vote in his home state of Arizona”, said Ben Mendez, HDM organizer in Texas and lifelong Democrat. “McCain’s Hispanic supporters, both democrat
and republican, know he is independent, courageous, and patriotic. They also know that he is willing to go against his party and stand up for issues that are in the best interest of the community.”

HDM organizer in Nevada, Fernando Romero, a Democrat and president of Hispanics in Politics which endorsed Richardson in the caucus, added, “The Hispanic vote will make the difference in several battleground states. Therefore, it is necessary that we inform our community that McCain has shown leadership on
issues that are of importance to Hispanics, such as the economy, immigration, national security, and health care.”

The site includes links for contacting Hispanic Democrats for McCain coordinators and for volunteering to join the thousands of Democrats that are already members of Team McCain-Palin. Hispanic Democrats for McCain is a grassroots organization dedicated to country first, Party second.

ARLINGTON, VA — The McCain-Palin presidential campaign today announced the endorsement of Miguel D. Lausell, Senior Political Advisor to Hillary Clinton, and Clinton Delegate-at-Large Luchy Secaira.

“Although I supported Hillary during the primaries, I now support John McCain and Governor Palin because I am putting my country first,” said Secaira, former Hillary Clinton Florida Delegate-at-Large. “They have the experience and judgment to lead America through these difficult times, and I trust them to work with Democrats to do the right thing for our country.”

Lausell, who advised Senator Clinton on a variety of issues including international trade, telecommunications and Latino affairs, added, “John McCain has a long record of reforming government and working across the aisle to achieve bipartisan results. His courageous leadership is exactly what we need in the White House, and I am convinced that John McCain is the right leader at the right time for our nation.”

Both Lausell and Secaira supported Sen. Hillary Clinton during the primaries, but they will campaign for the McCain-Palin ticket.

Lausell has served as President and CEO of the Puerto Rico Telephone Company; Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Telephone Authority; a member of the Governor of Puerto Rico’s Economic Strategic Council; President of the Export Policy Commission of Puerto Rico; and Undersecretary of the Department of the Treasury of Puerto Rico. He served on the National Finance Board of the Gore 2000 Committee and was a member of the Democratic National Committee’s Leadership 2000 Board.

Secaira, who is of Dominican descent, traveled to eight states to coordinate grassroots efforts for Senator Clinton, has a doctorate of neuropsychology and was trained at New York University.
