Alabama’s New Immigration Law

Posted by Billy On October - 8 - 2011

Recently the state of Alabama has passed a new law where the school system will be checking the immigration status of any new student who enrolls in their schools. Hispanic families are removing their children in fear of being caught by officials.

Hundreds of student throughout the state have either been not going to school or have told their teachers that they will be moving to avoid arrest and/or deportation. In response the teachers are instructing students not to leave and not to worry about the police. While I understand the feeling of the teachers trying to help the children, but these students shouldn’t be in the school system. This law is being put into affect because of the illegal immigration problem that is out of control. A law that should not have ever been put into affect if the federal government was doing the job they needed to years ago.

While this is an sad issue for illegal immigrants because of them having to up-root themselves from the life they made here, but quite honestly, they have no illegal right to be here in the first place.

In the meantime, president Obama‘s Administration has decided to file an appeal against the ruling. Again, Obama has decided to not uphold the U.S. Constitution. This type of move by his administration clearly shows his lack of concern for the American people that he has sworn to protect and serve. This is clearly a political move to get the votes he needs to win the election next year.
The illegal immigration issue is now becoming the biggest issue for the American people. Many states are trying to write laws to protect the citizens from the affects of illegal immigrant coming across the border in droves. They are several county sheriffs in Arizona who have filed suits against the Obama Administration in regards to the Fast and Furious campaign that went awry when officer Terry was killed by the same weapons that the Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms (ATF) lost track of going over the Mexico border.

The iimigration laws here need to be reformed. I don’t mean to allow these people amnesty or a fast-track way to citizenship. I mean we need to secure and close our borders, both the north and south. Not because of the Hispanic population coming across, but because of the possibility of terrorist coming through as well. We have a current employment problem in America. Nearly 16% of the working population is unemployed and we have over 100,000 legal immigrants coming into America each month. We need to slow down the rate until we can get some real leaders in Washington to get this country back on track.

Lame Stream Media Is At It Again

Posted by Billy On August - 18 - 2011

As a Libertarian, I try to listen to multiple views of the main stream media outlets. This way I get a good feel of what both sides think and feel about the issues. Over the years, especially since the last presidential election in 2008, I noticed how the left is very one-sided and doesn’t give you all the fact (if any at all). It’s gotten to the point that the right-wing media outlets are doing the same now.

If you’re paying attention to the GOP primary, you’ve had to have noticed how FOX News is only looking and talking about the candidates that they want to profile and push forward in the primary. Look at the treatment that they are giving to Senator Ron Paul. Last week he polled the second highest in the Iowa straw poll, only 0.9% behind Michelle Bachmann and FOX hasn’t even given him the respect he deserves from finishing that well.

The Bias media, no matter what view they have should not be conducting themselves in this manner. I understand when it comes to the opinionated shows like Hannity, O’Reilly and Matthews will interject with their thoughts and opinions. That’s OK, but when you have news programs on these same stations doing it also, it wrong. News programs are to give you the facts, all the fact, so you can make you’re own intelligent decision.

It’s gotten to the point where I can’t even watch any of these programs. It started shortly after the last election in 2010. Only a few months after Marco Rubio took office in Washington, he was invited to be interviewed on the Sean Hannity show. When Rubio was introduced, Sean’s first question to him was…”So are you going to run for president in 2012?” Rubio clearly stated that he was just elected to office and for the next six years, he will be dedicated to that job, not running for another. During the entire eight minute interview, the host continued to ask his guest about running for president. We have real issues going on in America and the last thing we should be asking any public official is if they are going to run for another position. Let’s ask them about what they’re doing with the job they already have.

He is another incident where the media is out of control. Rick Perry decided to run for president last Saturday. On Monday, Rush Limbaugh was praising him as the true representative of the Republican party. How is that so? Rush clearly knows Perry’s voting record and should be telling us how he wants to give tuition to illegal immigrants as well as being for amnesty and the DREAM Act. On that information alone, conservatives and republicans shouldn’t even consider Perry in the primary. Why is it that the right wing refuses to see the quality in Senator Ron Paul and Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann? To be that would be the perfect ticket out of the clowns that are currently in the race.
As for the left-leaning media, when are they going to admit that Obama has failed this country and doesn’t deserve to run again. As a matter of fact, Congressman Bernie Sanders (D-Vt) has been pushing to run in a primary against Obama and not one of these Democratic supportive stations won’t even mention it.

The State Of Georgia Is Being Sued On Immigration Law

Posted by Billy On June - 27 - 2011

A federal judge in Atlanta has decided that the new state law Georgia passed recently is unconstitutional and has issued an order which will temporarily block enforcement of the state’s law which is to take effect this Friday. The Judge Thomas Thrash’s order to block the law, which would penalize anyone who transports or harbor illegal immigrants, from taking place.

Since when is it unconstitutional to uphold the laws which have passed. The Constitution clearly states that the States have power over the federal government when it comes to laws in their state. Illegal immigration is ILLEGAL, period. We as Americans have the right to protect our sovereignty and this judge’s decision is just wrong. The lawsuit was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), who’s name is in and of itself is a joke. How can you protect America’s liberties if you’re giving rights to non citizens? The ACLU is joined by the Southern Poverty Law Center and several other civil and immigration right groups. Again immigration rights pertain to immigrants coming here legally.

The Anti-Defamation League along with 11 Latin American countries — Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru — have joined as plaintiffs in the suit. My thoughts on that is…these countries have no rights to be involved in any way to dispute our laws. Most (if not all) of these countries have strict immigration laws of their own, so who are they to dictate to us about our laws?

Republican Gov. Nathan Deal and other state officials have asked Thrash to dismiss the class-action suit, arguing the law is constitutional, the groups have no standing to sue and the state should be immune from such lawsuits anyway. I agree with the Governor’s stance, other countries have no rights in any other country’s laws which includes the United States.

Georgia’s new law, State House Bill 87, allows police to check the immigration status of suspects who can’t provide accepted identification. It will also let law enforcement agencies to detain and hand over to federal authorities someone found to be in this country illegally. The law also states that lying about immigration status on job applications is a felony. The law requires many employers to use a federal database to check immigration status of any prospective employees. This is the way it’s suppose to be in the first place, but the federal government has made it so easy for illegal immigrants to come into the country and acquire jobs.

The sovereignty of this country is in jeopardy and with states enacting these laws, it’s the only way we will ever get it back.

Arizona’s Immigration Bill SB1070

Posted by Billy On April - 29 - 2010

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, you’ve heard about Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has sign the Bill (sb1070) into law. A law that makes it necessary for all people to carry their identification card with them at all times. The law gives Police Officials the authority to ask and to see the information not only from aliens but from any individual that is considered suspicious or when there is enough suspicion that suspect is not legal resident.

The Democrats as well as many different Hispanic coalitions up in arms saying that the bill is unconstitutional and racially bias. How can a bill that targets people who are here illegally (Russian, Canadians, Mexicans and many other) be racially bias? Yes the bill passed in the state of Arizona and they do have an extreme problem with the illegal Mexican population. Before you get annoyed by the comment of “problem”, let me list the issues that Arizona is having with the illegal population in their state.

* 22% of the felonies in Maricopa county are committed by illegal immigrants.
* The federal government has estimated that the illegal population in Arizona has grown from 330,000 in 2000, to 560,000 in 2008.( http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/statistics/publications/ois_ill_pe_2008.pdf )
* 17% of those arrested by the Border Patrol in the Tucson area already have criminal records in the United States.
* In 2007, the Center for Immigration Studies estimated that 12 percent of workers in Arizona are illegal immigrants.

These are just four that I have listed, but the issues go on forever. Issues that include some illegal immigrants being on welfare, having no insurance, as well as their U.S. born children (which shouldn’t have been born here if their parents stayed in their own country) in the school system. I won’t even go into the issue of these illegal immigrants paying taxes.

The problem is not they want to come here and take part in the American dream, it the fact that they are not coming into this country through the legal system. I am a second generation American, my grandparents came here to this country through Ellis Island. I agree with the law that Arizona’s Governor has passed and as Americans we all should.
