John McCain also got an endorsment. His came from The New York Post, who earler this year had endorsed Hillary Clinton.

McCain’s lifelong record of service to America, his battle-tested courage, unshakeable devotion to principle and clear grasp of the dangers and opportunities now facing the nation stand in dramatic contrast to the tissue-paper-thin résumé of his Democratic opponent, freshman Sen. Barack Obama.

They list some of their reasons as;

Taxes: McCain knows that when government absorbs ever-larger shares of national income, the economy suffers. High tax rates diminish investment, killing jobs and stunting growth. And while Obama promises tax cuts for “95 percent” of Americans, what he actually is proposing is some $650 billion in tax-credit-driven hikes in entitlement and other spending, to be paid for with heavier imposts across the board, but especially on investment – like a sharply higher capital-gains tax. This is bad news for the millions of ordinary Americans who own stocks, either personally or through pension funds or who plan someday to sell their homes or other real property. McCain, wisely, vows to keep capital-gains taxes at 15 percent and to keep the Bush-era tax cuts in place – understanding that new growth will boost revenue, and promising to make up the rest with spending restraint. And he’s called for a one-year freeze on most discretionary spending and an end to pork-barrel giveaways.

Energy: On the economic issue most vexing Americans today – energy prices – McCain is aggressive He is a strong convert to offshore drilling: “We have trillions of dollars’ worth of oil and gas reserves in the US at a time we are exporting hundreds of billions of dollars a year overseas to buy energy.” He also strongly backs nuclear power – a carbon-free form of energy that America can produce relatively cheaply. Obama, meanwhile, hews to the Democratic Party line on energy: no nukes, no drilling and no comprehension of the consequences of such policies.

Nancy Pelosi has shown her true colors towards the American people. After this morning’s session, The house voted on the one thing that they could think of thanks to Ms Pelosi, adjourning for five weeks with pay. They were trying to vote on opening up drilling within the United States (too bad the house isn’t united), but the Democrats wanted to go on vacation early.

The democrats didn’t like that the Republicans wanted to stay and hash things out on the issue of gas. So what did the Democrats do to stop it? They kicked out the reporters and all cameras then proceeded to have the lights to the gallery and the house floor turn off.

The Republicans stayed after the junior high school Democrats antics were done and spoke on the floor without lights or microphones. Rep. John Culberson decided to video the session as well as writing on his Twitter account (who would have thought that he knew how to tweet). For those who want to follow him on Twitter, here’s his page https://twitter.com/johnculberson so you do so.

“We the people in order to for a more perfect union”…

Who would have thought that it would be done through Twitter.
I want all that follow this blog to know that I am not a Republican. I do see myself more for their policy than I could ever be for the Democrats. I’m a Libertarian and believe in smaller government.

Should we start drilling in America? We need to stop asking this question and start drilling. One big issue with drilling in America is that the “sheeple” say “not in my backyard”. Why not?

We are too dependent on foreign oil and we are all paying for it at the pumps. When we start drilling, it will start the process of us being a more independent country. The country is so brainwashed by the thought of us drilling here would be a bad thing. Well what the hell do you think is going on now? Yes, oil has pulled back to $121 a barrel, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to stay there for long. At this rate the price will be higher than it’s high of $147 a barrel by this time next year.

What do we do then? Complain and discuss about drilling here again? We need to do it now, not next year or next decade.

It is estimated that there’s enough oil in the Gulf of Mexico to last us 30 years (that seems to be enough for me). With alternative energy and the technology that we have now, we can be free of oil dependency in 35-40 years. What do we do for the other 5-10 years in that equation? Well it will take about five years before we even start bringing oil up out of the Gulf. As the country makes a full-all-out campaign to remove our dependency, we will start using less oil each year as it goes forward (stretching out that number).

These reports that state that we’ll have alternative energy replacing only 40% of our oil use by 2030 are just a political way to get the masses to believe it.

If we want to really move forward in this task, we need to make sacrifices. I live in Florida and have no problem drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. I’ve been to the Gulf many times and I can pretty much say that I’ll never see an oil rig from the shore. The gulf is over 617,000 square miles which is 30,000 square miles bigger than the state of Alaska and one fifth the size of the continental United States.

As for drilling in Alaska, I agree with leaving the ANWAR area off limits for now. The area is subjected to major climate changes and the costs would be much higher. If we as a country to seriously work together, we won’t ever need to mess with the area.

We need to stop making excuses about drilling in America and start doing it.

If you have any comments to this post, please feel free (as a free American) to do so.
