The Libertarian Idea

The Libertarian Idea

Libertarianism is both a philosophy and a political view. The key concepts defining Libertarianism are:
Individual Rights as inherent to human beings, not granted by government
A Spontaneous Order through which people conduct their daily interactions and through which society is organized independent of central (government) direction
The Rule of Law which dictates that everyone is free to do as they please so long as they do not infringe upon the rights of others
A divided and Limited Government, checked by written constitution
Free Markets in which price and exchange is agreed upon mutually by individuals
Virtue of Production whereby the productive labor of the individual and any translation of that labor into earnings belongs, by right, to the individual who should not have to sacrifice those earnings to taxes
Peace which has, throughout history, most commonly been disrupted by the interests of the ruling class or centralized government.

Campaigning For Office

Posted by Billy On January - 2 - 2010

It’s amazing that a candidate will spend 100 times more money than what the position he is running for even pays. Look at how much money Mike Bloomberg spent to run for his third (and unconstitutional) term. He spent over 85 million dollars of his own money for a job that pays $200,000 per year. If we want to change the mentality of elected officials, we need to change the laws. Unfortunately, it’s easier said than done. How can you get someone to vote for something that will level their advantage over their competition the next time they run for office. Let’s be for real though… The powers-that-be are not going let that happen because they most likely know that they lose control over the election process. Third party candidates currently don’t stand a chance to run against the Democrats and the Republicans with the laws that are in place.

The current laws in regards to campaign contributions are very screwed up. Look how much money was funneled into President Obama’s campaign. Unknown contributors and questionable entities made it possible for Obama and his henchmen to carry out one of the greatest campaigns in American history. If Obama is so much for equality for all Americans, then he should lead by example in the next election in 2012.

How that could be done is to eliminate all contributions for all campaigns. The media (newspapers, TV and radio) should be regulated to have equal coverage of each candidate. All candidates should be required to be involve and participate in any and all debates. No more commercials for candidates, instead have each news and talk show have these candidates come on at different points of the election cycle to “pitch” their policies. No one candidate gets more air time or a better time slot than another. As for raising money for running the campaign trail, there is no more campaign trail. If all the candidates are interviewed and participate in debates, there wouldn’t be a need to be on a campaign trail. If all news outlets are required to have these candidates on in equal time, how can the American voter NOT know what they stand for. As for the debates. Have at least two every month through the primary and then step it up to once a week through the general election.

All the repetitive speeches and slandering of the opponent has taken up too much of the campaigning along the trail that it’s not even worth for a voter to go to one of these “campaign rallies”.

No matter at what level of government the candidate is running, it should be done in this type of manner.

Citizen Big Brother

Posted by Joanne On August - 6 - 2009

From PUMA:

Stand up to the White House’s menacingly misguided attempt to monitor the free speech of American citizens.

From ABC’s The Note:

“Yesterday, White House director of new media Macon Phillips wrote a blog post urging readers to flag questionable claims about health care proposals.”

As Republican Senator John Cornyn wrote in an email to the president urging him to end the Big Brother program,

“By requesting that citizens send “fishy” emails to the White House, it is inevitable that the names, email addresses, IP addresses, and private speech of U.S. citizens will be reported to the White House. You should not be surprised that these actions taken by your White House staff raise the specter of a data collection program. As Congress debates health care reform and other critical policy matters, citizen engagement must not be chilled by fear of government monitoring the exercise of free speech rights.”

Read more here:
http://pumapac.org/2009/08/06/the-first-amendment/

This program is menacing and wrong, and it calls for action. Please send an email to the White House instructing them to brush up on their Constitution.

1. Send an email to Macon Phillips, aka Minister of Information, at flag@whitehouse.gov

2. Copy these emails into the BCC of your email: prowl@pumapac.org, hardball@msnbc.com, caffertyfile@cnn.com, comments@mclaughlin.com, Cavuto@foxnews.com, LouDobbs@cnn.com, hemmer@foxnews.com, headlinenews@cnn.com, Hannity@foxnews.com, gretawire@fox.com, charlierose@pbs.org

3. Encourage your friends, family, and co-workers to send an email.

Use this email, or edit it as you see fit.If you are not a PUMA member, please delete that line. Be sure to include the text of the First Amendment in your email. Short, sweet, and to the point.

Dear White House Minister of Information,

I am writing as a very concerned American citizen. I am also a member of Puma PAC, People United Means Action (http://pumapac.org). After reading about your program encouraging Americans to report instances of “fishy” speech by their sister and fellow Americans, we realized you had perhaps forgotten to read this before you got to the White House:

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Please brush up on the United States Constitution. It’s a rather important document, and it is especially crucial that people in your line of work are familiar with it.

Sincerely,
Your Name and State
Puma PAC Member

Terrorist Receive Miranda Rights

Posted by Billy On July - 10 - 2009

I have to say that I get my news from many different sources. I make it a point to listen to both the left and the right sides of political news shows. One show that I appreciate listening to is the Wilkow Majority with Andrew Wilkow. As he says in the beginning of his show, “The show for rational thought and political analysts”.

On his show today, one of his guest was Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI) of the house of Representatives, a former F.B.I. agent as well as military officer. A gentleman who is well informed and aware of what it takes to deal with this type of situation.

The discussion was in regards to the terrorist having their Miranda Rights read to them on the battlefield. That’s right, non-American citizens are receiving the rights of American citizens. Thanks to the Democrats, our enemies are being protected by rights that they don’t even have the rights to.

We are at war with Jihadist who are firing at our solders, which makes them army combatants which gives them the rights of the Geneva Convention. In that case they should be tried under those laws, but because the Democrat’s defense is that the terrorist don’t wear uniform, they don’t fall under the guidelines. That’s well and good, but then why protect them under U.S. Constitution laws?

We can’t waterboard them because of the Geneva Convention and at the same time they’re not under the Geneva Convention laws. This has gotten totally out of control and the present Administration doesn’t have a clue as to what to do to protect this country. Which is what the main duties of the federal government is supposed to do.

Our government has lost sight of what our fore fathers had written out for this country. We have a little over a year to change the balance of power in Congress and about three years and four months to remove President Obama from the White House. That day can’t come soon enough for me.
