This week Congress returns to work after their three week undeserved vacation. So now it’s time for them to dig their heels down and find money to support the tax cuts that Obama and friends want to continue keep in place to help get the vote they need to win this year’s election.

There are many ideas that are being floated around Washington, but the one idea that is being avoided is the one that many Libertarians and Conservatives are calling for for years. It’s the idea of cutting many programs that are not the responsibility of the federal government. It’s gotten to the point that the federal government has funded so many programs that can no longer be funded. The real issue is how many of those programs should not have ever been put in place to begin with (but that’s for another post).

There are many programs that can be dismantled and/or eliminated to lower the cost of running this country. The biggest problem America is facing when talking about the deficit or the debt ceiling is the fact that Washington is spending way too much. Instead they want to play the number game and say they’re going to cut spending over a ten year period. I laymen terms that means they will cut back on future projected spending.

Let’s look at it this way, the federal government spent $3.5 trillion in 2010 and according to the most recent available tax revenue information (2007), only collected $2.4 trillion in taxes (after refunds). Washington is already spending more than it collects. Add on to the fact that there are other programs that politicians want to have funded in the future. Let’s say they “plan” to spend an extra $300 billion each year for the next ten years, in that case they would be spending another three trillion dollars on top of the already $3.5 trillion. So now they say they just “cut” $500 billion dollars. What that really means is that now they expect to spend only an extra $250 billion dollars each year on top of what they are doing already.

The federal government has been doing nothing but growing for the past few decades and on the path they (politicians) are going, it will continue to grow. Don’t be one of the many that fall for the creative accounting practices of our politicians. Wake up and see for yourself that this country is already bankrupt. the only reason we are still operating is because China and other countries are still willing to buy our debt. Once they stop buying our treasury bonds, it will be over for America.

The ONLY way to get the deficit and the debt under control is to reduce current spending. Yes it’s not going to be easy for the American citizen to do it, but the alternative is not a pretty site what-so-ever.

Today is January 1, 2012. This is the year that we try to take America back from the brink of disaster. The president, his administration and pretty much the entire Congress has changed the face of this country. Of course it’s what Barack Obama has been saying since his campaign trail in 2008. He said and I quote, “we are going to fundamentally transform America”. When those words were spoken nearly four years ago, I had chills down my spin, we are now only eleven months away from removing him from office or falling asleep and letting the liberals and the progressives put him back in the White House for another four years. If that happens, this country will never recover.

So what is it that we can do to assure the removal of Obama from office? We need to do several things to get it done.

We need to get the truth out without getting personal. When people discuss politics, most times it will get personal. Politics has a way of doing that even with the closest of friends. Stick to the facts, don’t let the other person turn the conversation into a name-calling type of discussion. Sticking to the facts will keep it in line. If the liberal, progressive or an independent starts to veer off the topic, just stay the course and the facts.
Talk to people who are not really into politics or don’t follow it. With the way things are with the economy, I doubt you’ll run into anyone like that, but don’t be surprised if you do. Instead ask them questions as to the state of their finances and the immediate world around them. Unless they’re living in a cave, they will see the points your making and see that the present federal government isn’t doing what they need to do for this country.

Ask them about the Constitution. It’s still amazes me to see how many people haven’t read the founding documents of this country. You will see that people will tell you that they’ve read it, but if you question them, you will see their knowledge is limited. Don’t come across as arrogant, it won’t get you too far. people will tune you out if they feel that you are a know-it-all or if you act arrogant. Talk about particular issues currently going on that the government has no constitutional authority to do it. If you happen to run into someone that uses the Constitution to debate you, make sure you don’t let them use the Commerce clause as the end-all to everything in modern times. Remember, the federal government has no authority to force any citizen to buy a product. ObamaCare is unconstitutional. If the person tries to say something in regards to Romneycare in Massachusetts, tell them about the tenth amendment. The States have the right to enact their own universal healthcare, but the federal government doesn’t.

We need to show the Administration’s mistakes. Obama has made so many, that it shouldn’t be difficult for you to point them out without attacking the president or his administration. Obama has made a few, but we need to stick to his staff who has advised him during the past three years. His involvement with the Solyndra scandal is just one of the many he is surrounded by with his administration. What about the Fast and Furious issue which caused the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry? Eric Holder is refusing to admit his incompetence to know what his agency is doing. It’s now gotten to the point that he can’t even come up with any more excuses that he started playing the “Race Card” last week to the review board. If you needed a few more to dicuss, there’s the GM bailout and Light Squared. If that isn’t enough, you can look at this list of Obama scandals to help you on your quest to save America.

To make matters worse, the list of candidates for the GOP nomination is very thin. I don’t see any real candidate saving this country except for Ron Paul who happens to be a Libertarian. That subject is for another time in the coming days. Stay tuned and until then, I hope these pointers will help you when talking to an Obama supporter.

Recently the state of Alabama has passed a new law where the school system will be checking the immigration status of any new student who enrolls in their schools. Hispanic families are removing their children in fear of being caught by officials.

Hundreds of student throughout the state have either been not going to school or have told their teachers that they will be moving to avoid arrest and/or deportation. In response the teachers are instructing students not to leave and not to worry about the police. While I understand the feeling of the teachers trying to help the children, but these students shouldn’t be in the school system. This law is being put into affect because of the illegal immigration problem that is out of control. A law that should not have ever been put into affect if the federal government was doing the job they needed to years ago.

While this is an sad issue for illegal immigrants because of them having to up-root themselves from the life they made here, but quite honestly, they have no illegal right to be here in the first place.

In the meantime, president Obama‘s Administration has decided to file an appeal against the ruling. Again, Obama has decided to not uphold the U.S. Constitution. This type of move by his administration clearly shows his lack of concern for the American people that he has sworn to protect and serve. This is clearly a political move to get the votes he needs to win the election next year.
The illegal immigration issue is now becoming the biggest issue for the American people. Many states are trying to write laws to protect the citizens from the affects of illegal immigrant coming across the border in droves. They are several county sheriffs in Arizona who have filed suits against the Obama Administration in regards to the Fast and Furious campaign that went awry when officer Terry was killed by the same weapons that the Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms (ATF) lost track of going over the Mexico border.

The iimigration laws here need to be reformed. I don’t mean to allow these people amnesty or a fast-track way to citizenship. I mean we need to secure and close our borders, both the north and south. Not because of the Hispanic population coming across, but because of the possibility of terrorist coming through as well. We have a current employment problem in America. Nearly 16% of the working population is unemployed and we have over 100,000 legal immigrants coming into America each month. We need to slow down the rate until we can get some real leaders in Washington to get this country back on track.

Over the last 50 years or so, politicians have been using the different classes of people to get themselves re-elected. When the subject of class warfare comes up, the politicians refer to as the rich against the poor, blacks against whites. It’s just another tool for them to use to get the less informed to “buy” into the crap and to vote for them.

The true class warfare is the political class against the citizen class. If you haven’t noticed, the politicians want us to “fight” among ourselves and to take the real focus off of them. It’s amazing how politicians never refer to themselves as rich or wealthy. They don’t want the average citizen to realize that they are also doing financially well. How could the American people who are less fortunate to vote for them if they too are rich and “not paying their fair share”?

While I agree that a good portion of our population is not making ends meet because of their income. Approximately 15% of the U.S. population is living under the poverty level set by the federal government. Currently a family of four making 22,314 is considered to be living at the poverty level. I do agree that making 22,314 a year to support a family of four is low for today’s standard of living, we must also think about where in the country the family is living in. There’s a difference between living in New York City and Mobile, Alabama when you think of the cost of living in those areas. A family may make it just fine in Alabama, but they sure wouldn’t in the Big Apple.

Politicians also like to use the poor as their personal puppets in the battle against the Republicans. It’s a shame that the media doesn’t do a better job in disseminating the facts form the myths. Here are just some facts about the condition the poor are in.

*The typical “poor” household in America has a car
*78% of “poor” households in America have air conditioning
*64% of “poor” households in America have cable or satellite TV .. most have
two TVs, along with a DVD player and VCR
*Most “poor” households in America with children have a gaming system such
as an Xbox or PlayStation
*38% of “poor” households in America have a personal computer
*Most “poor” households in America have a refrigerator, an oven and stove,
and a microwave. They also have other household appliances such as a
clothes washer, clothes dryer, ceiling fans, a cordless phone, and a coffee
maker.
*The typical “poor” American has more living space than the average European.
*The typical “poor” American family is able to obtain medical care when needed.
*The average “poor” household in America claims to have sufficient funds to meet all essential needs.

If you look around the world you will see that most poor people in other countries don’t have it as good as “poor” Americans. We as a whole are doing better than the rest of the world so we need to stop this class warfare game and realize that we live in the best country in the world. If we don’t and we continue to let the politicians use this tactic to get average people fighting among themselves, they (politicians) will be the only winners.

Last night president Obama made his speech to the congressional audience. All I can really say about his speech is that it was nothing we haven’t heard already many times over. Once again it lacked the “how exactly is it going to get done” information. Asking Congress to pass a bill that will have the federal government spend nearly $500 billion.

On the last day of session last month, Congress passed raising the debt ceiling by $1.2 Trillion. Five weeks later Obama is now telling them to pass a bill that is one third the cost of the entire increase. When is this going to stop? It won’t as long as Obama is in office. More than ever we need to remove him next year.

As Obama started to talk about the latest bill, The American Jobs Act, he was trying to inspire the crowd. “These men and women grew up with faith in America that hard work and responsibility paid off.”, Obama stated. Unfortunately nearly 50% of Americans don’t feel that way any longer. Forty years of entitlement programs has changed that mentality. He continued, “Our economy will be driven not by Washington, but by our businesses and our workers… but we can help. We can make a difference.”

I can see from the last twenty years how well the free market works when Washington helps. With help like that, please don’t help. According to what Obama said, construction jobs for bridges, roads as well as public schools were pretty much all the ones that would be created from this bill. The last time I checked, construction jobs only count for roughly 20% of the entire work force in this country.
I’m not sure if anyone notice that when Obama was talking about the different jobs and for who it “will” help, the president of the union board, ??? was being shown on the screen. So that pretty much gives me an idea on the kinds of jobs that this bill will help. The union jobs will be the ones to benefit and of course the unions themselves.

With this bill he said that it will help “rebuild America”. Repair decaying roads and bridges. What I would like to know is, isn’t that what he said about the $800 billion stimulus bill? We been rebuilding America’s roads for the last fifty years according to out past presidents and Congress members. When are we going to be finished? He mentioned a bridge that connects Kentucky and Ohio, which is a major trucking route, is in such dispair, it must be done. Why wasn’t it done two years ago with the stimulus bill?

The line that gave me a good chuckles was, “…everything in this bill will be paid for.” Really? How about this, get the money together before starting any projects and pay for it first. Then I’ll believe that everything in the bill is paid for. After all, the word “paid” means that some gave the money for the service/product.

For some time now, the idea of having welfare recipients drug tested for them to receive benefits has been appealing to many, but for those on the left as well as those who are on welfare, it’s a different story. No matter which side of the issue you are on, this topic brings a lot of discussion and emotion to the conversation.

The state of Florida has recently passed a law that states that any new welfare claim that is submitted, the person must have a drug test done before receiving any benefits. the claimant is responsible for paying for the test, but if the test is negative, the person will be reimbursed for the cost of the test. If they fail, they will not be paid back for the test as well as they will not be eligible for welfare for one year. This issue has become an ever growing concern for people on both sides of it.

The left (Democrats) feel that it’s an unconstitutional decision to invade someone’s privacy. They use the 4th Amendment as they reason to not allowing these test to be legal. The right (Republicans) think that if you’re going to get assistance from the government, you should be expected to abide by the same standards as those who have to take a test to get a job. They say that since employees who work to pay taxes to help fund entitlement program have to take the same test to work, the people on welfare should do the same. The reason behind their thinking is that there is so much corruption within the welfare system (along with multi-generation families) that this is one way to weed out the wrong-doers.

Those people who say that the drug testing is wrong is because if infringes on their Constitutional right as laid out in the 4th amendment The fourth amendment protects the American citizen from unwarranted and illegal search and seizures. In 2003, the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals struck down Michigan’s drug testing of welfare applicants as a Fourth Amendment violation.
As for the other side of the issue, the 4th amendment pertains to privacy and they feel that if these people are looking for public assistance, then the issue of privacy doesn’t play a role in the debate.

While I agree to the drug testing, some say that I’m wrong. All I can say to that is that I must trust the judicial system to make the right decision on the matter. Unfortunately I don’t trust those who are serving on the circuit courts as well as the Supreme Court. Again this issue is for each state to make their own decisions as to if they want to legalize medical marijuana.

Isn’t it amazing to think that we send over 500 politicians to Washington to make the right decisions for the county and it’s citizens and they can’t seem to get it right. In regards to the budget, they haven’t even bothered to write one in over 850 days. Basically since President Obama took office.

Why is it that we allow our representative and Senators to disregard what is expected of them to do while serving as a public servant? Why is it that these same politicians will come looking for us to vote them back into office when they know they did a lousy job the last term? It’s because they think they’re doing the right thing for the American people. I say it’s time for them to wake up and realize that they’ve screwed this county for years to come.

As a responsible family man, I’m required to look over my finances and make decisions on what are the priorities in our lives to make it work for us. I take the time to re-evaluate our income and expenses every six months. I do that since I work for myself and things change on both sides of the equation. Some months I make more and other times not. The same goes for the bills. I’m always crunching numbers to see where I can maximize the capitol I have to work with. Too bad Congress and the president can’t do the same.

I recently read an article about how balancing the budget for Washington is much different than for the individual. I say BULL! Washington needs to do the same as all who have to balance their books. Need it be a corporation, an individual or the federal government. In the article, the author states that during a poor economy, Washington will spend more because of programs like unemployment. While that may be true, it still doesn’t explain why in the state of Florida, Workforce Agency of Florida spent $14,000 of tax payers money to buy capes. That’s right superhero capes with a cartoon figure of Dr. Evil Unemployment for the unemployed. You can’t make this crap up. The agency felt that doing this would help them connect with the community better. The unemployment office is not there to better connect with the community, it’s there to help the community get a job.

We now have Obama coming out next week with his new plan to help create jobs. Of course we saw how the last one went…$878 Billion and we now have a higher unemployment rate and a trillion dollars in added debt. The article does say that when the economy is doing good, the federal government should not be running a deficit. Since when has there been a group of politicians that didn’t spend the tax payer’s money like a drunken sailor? It’s unlikely that this bunch of career politicians will do anything positive for the economy and the country as long as they’re in office.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Vote all of the current politicians out of office the next time they’re up for re-election.

Almost three years after Barack Obama took office, unemployment is higher than it was then. Obama stated in Febuary 2009 that Congress needed to pass the stimulus to prevent the unemployment rate going above 8%. Well thirty months later, the rate is at 9.1% after coming down off the high of 10.2%. To make matters worse, the democratic black caucus has blatantly blamed the TEA Party for the cause of the situation.

Jesse Jackson, Maxine Waters and other members of the causus were in Miami Florida this week to rally the troops to put the blame of the economy and other issues on the TEA Party. Earlier this month Maxine Waters said publicly that the TEA Party should go straight to hell. Her comments on Tuesday included her saying, “We have to stand up and fight. It’s fight time…We’re not afraid of the tea party…In this struggle, we have to define who we are, what the president is doing and not let our voices be overshadowed by the tea party.”

Even the State Representative Frederica Wilson (Miami Gardens) has stated that the grassroot movement is “The tea party holds Congress hostage…They have one goal in mind, and that’s to make President Obama a one-term president.”

Ms. Wilson is correct on half of that statement. The part where the TEA Party is trying (along with many Americans) to make sure Obama doesn’t get re-elected.

Jesse Jackson took the stage of the 10 member panel to stoke the fire of the audience. He asked the members to stand if they had a family member in jail, credit card debt as well as a home in foreclosure, a majority of the audience stood up. When asked who voted for Obama, nearly the entire room stood at that point. Mr. Jackson continued to fire up the crowd by his comments of Dr. Martin Luther King. The tea party opposing Obama, Jackson said, should be called the “Fort Sumter Tea Party that sought to maintain states’ rights and slavery.” he continued, “The tea party is a new name on an old game,” he said. “Dr. King fought a ‘tea party’ in Alabama…He had no weapons, but he confronted the tea party.”

This is where I take offense. Dr King was for human rights no matter what the color of the person’s skin is. He fought against racism and inequality towards all people. Dr King didn’t fight against government destruction of the economy or even the government itself. So why would Jackson even use Dr. King is his speech? To insight emotions. The democrats (republicans too) have always used emotions to get the people engaged in taking action. Emotions are what also create the TEA Party too. People being tired of the government not caring about the American person. That is what the TEA party is about, not racism and slavery. The Democrats have been using those two words to describe the group since it first started. They also claim that the group is filled with “terrorists” and “right-wing extremists.

We will never move forward in becoming a single unit of people when influential people like Jackson, Waters and others keep separating us by race, color or sexual orientation. We have to come together as Americans, nothing more and nothing less, if we want to move forward.

As a Libertarian, I try to listen to multiple views of the main stream media outlets. This way I get a good feel of what both sides think and feel about the issues. Over the years, especially since the last presidential election in 2008, I noticed how the left is very one-sided and doesn’t give you all the fact (if any at all). It’s gotten to the point that the right-wing media outlets are doing the same now.

If you’re paying attention to the GOP primary, you’ve had to have noticed how FOX News is only looking and talking about the candidates that they want to profile and push forward in the primary. Look at the treatment that they are giving to Senator Ron Paul. Last week he polled the second highest in the Iowa straw poll, only 0.9% behind Michelle Bachmann and FOX hasn’t even given him the respect he deserves from finishing that well.

The Bias media, no matter what view they have should not be conducting themselves in this manner. I understand when it comes to the opinionated shows like Hannity, O’Reilly and Matthews will interject with their thoughts and opinions. That’s OK, but when you have news programs on these same stations doing it also, it wrong. News programs are to give you the facts, all the fact, so you can make you’re own intelligent decision.

It’s gotten to the point where I can’t even watch any of these programs. It started shortly after the last election in 2010. Only a few months after Marco Rubio took office in Washington, he was invited to be interviewed on the Sean Hannity show. When Rubio was introduced, Sean’s first question to him was…”So are you going to run for president in 2012?” Rubio clearly stated that he was just elected to office and for the next six years, he will be dedicated to that job, not running for another. During the entire eight minute interview, the host continued to ask his guest about running for president. We have real issues going on in America and the last thing we should be asking any public official is if they are going to run for another position. Let’s ask them about what they’re doing with the job they already have.

He is another incident where the media is out of control. Rick Perry decided to run for president last Saturday. On Monday, Rush Limbaugh was praising him as the true representative of the Republican party. How is that so? Rush clearly knows Perry’s voting record and should be telling us how he wants to give tuition to illegal immigrants as well as being for amnesty and the DREAM Act. On that information alone, conservatives and republicans shouldn’t even consider Perry in the primary. Why is it that the right wing refuses to see the quality in Senator Ron Paul and Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann? To be that would be the perfect ticket out of the clowns that are currently in the race.
As for the left-leaning media, when are they going to admit that Obama has failed this country and doesn’t deserve to run again. As a matter of fact, Congressman Bernie Sanders (D-Vt) has been pushing to run in a primary against Obama and not one of these Democratic supportive stations won’t even mention it.

I received an e-mail from Senator Bill Nelson (D-Fl) informing his constituents of how serious he is about staying away from the mud-slinging and bad talking about the “other” political party. He does say that it’s both the Republicans as well as the Democrats that are responsible for the problems in America.

Here is the letter he sent out to the people in his district, followed by the response I sent to him.

After watching Standard & Poor’s performance in the Enron and housing debacles, it’s hard to stomach their decision to downgrade America’s credit.

But even coming from S&P, there is a message we should hear: The finger pointing and hyper-partisanship has to stop. If it doesn’t, we really will be on the road to ruin.

Democrats need to see tea partiers as something other than debt-limit hostage-taking Republicans. And Republicans need to see President Barack Obama and Democrats as something other than big-spending socialists.

We’ve got to stop this attack madness. We have to bring civility back to the public square. We have to put the country back on the path to fiscal sanity.

To do that, we need to cut some $4 trillion to $5 trillion. We made a down payment on this with the $2 trillion dollars we cut just last week. Now we need to go further.

To understand what we have to do, though, we first need to look at how we got here.

We went from a $236 billion budget surplus in 2000 to a $1.3 trillion deficit last year — and a record $14 trillion debt. A huge chunk of the debt comes from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We’re bringing the troops home.

Another significant piece stems from the Bush-era tax cuts. Warren Buffett, chairman and chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway, says the tax cuts for the wealthy should be left to expire. They’re set to do so at the end of next year. We should let that happen.

Agree or not, don’t you think most Americans were better off before the tax cuts than they are now?

Much of the rest of the debt comes from the economic downturn since 2008.

That brings us to today. And there’s no mystery about what we have to do. It’s just common sense. In addition to the spending cuts Congress just made, we need tax reform.

And by tax reform, I mean closing loopholes, special interest tax breaks and corporate subsidies. It’s just plain wrong to be protecting tax breaks for oil companies and to be rewarding businesses that ship jobs overseas.

As chairman of the Senate Finance Committee’s Fiscal Responsibility and Economic Growth Subcommittee, I’ve scheduled a hearing for early September to investigate closing many of these loopholes. Doing so will likely generate $2 trillion over the next decade. Add that to the $2 trillion in spending cuts we’ve made — and we’re in the $4 trillion range that we need to hit.

It’s time to stop the shouting and bickering and political attacks. It’s time to show the world that America can take care of business.

Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) is a member of the Senate Finance and Budget committees.

Senator,

The piece that you wrote for Politico is nothing but a poor attempt to convince me to vote for you next year. I will tell you that that will never happen.

Your attempt to lie to the American people about the so-called surplus in 2000 is just something else for me to tell my neighbors and friends about when they ask me for my political advice. The surplus you refer to was nothing more than a projected number if nothing in the equation would change. You know damn well that politicians, both Republicans and Democrats alike, do nothing to stop the spending of our tax dollars.

As for the $2 million you say that Congress just cut is also a lie. Again you cut money from the projected spending that you guys would like to do in the future. It’s like me saying I saved $90,000 this year since I wanted to spend $150,000 next year and will only spend $60,000. Of course I only make $60,000 a year, but that doesn’t matter since I saved $90,000 from “cutting” my spending.

It’s politicians like yourself that has ruined this country and too bad we are left to deal with you and your type forever since there is no term limits for you Senators and Congressman.

If you want to get my vote, pass a term limit bill before your next five weeks vacation that you and your fellow politicians don’t deserve. You civic service was never meant to be a career.

As for tax reform, absolutely we need tax reform. Let’s get it all over with and enact the Fair Tax Plan and get rid of the IRS. If it wasn’t for taxes, you guys would have nothing to use to get the different classes of people mad at each other which takes the focus off of the crap you and the others are doing in Washington DC. There are two classes in this country, the citizen class and the political class.

As for your last section where you state, “It’s time to show the world that America can take care of business.”, You are so right and for us as a country to do that, we need to clean out the House and the Senate of all politicians that have held the office for more than 6 years. Working along side of GOOOH.com (Get Out Of Our House) we are working to make that happen.

In closing, I want to thank you for your time in sending out this e-mail to remind me and my fellow readers/subscribers and countrymen of what’s important to America.
