Stimulus Plan

There’s talk about another possible stimulus check in the works. We saw how well the other one worked for the economy. The powers-to-be think that we’re going to run out and buy more crap. Didn’t they see most people who received a check, used it to pay off debt (or fund their TD Ameritrade account like me)? For the government to send out a stimulus package they need to borrow the money from someone else (or have the Federal Reserve print more). The last package we borrowed from China, who’s next on the government’s list…India?
Tomorrow, the consumer confidence report is going to be released. The estimate is 50% and after today’s debacle in the stock market, who knows what the number will be. If the government wants to see positive things to happen, they need to do a lot more than spend more of the tax payer’s money.
It was mentioned again today about how Barack Obama wants to shift the burden of taxes (less to be paid by the middle/lower class). What really needs to be done is for the government to stop spending so much. Who cares who’s paying the taxes when there are more programs being created. When they speak of lowering tax burdens for the less fortunate, all they’re doing is reducing you percentage of responsibility. Here’s an example, say you pay 10% of $100, your part of the burden is $10. Now if the bill is now $200 and you pay only 7%, your responsible of $14 of it.
The problem is not that there are taxes, the issue is that there is too much spending. Paying taxes are good (yes I said that). I like the services that I have available that are paid for with tax dollars. Firefighters, police, garbage, water and sewer are just a few things that our taxes go for. When the money is used to fund stupid studies (like why a cow has four stomachs) that’s when the spending gets out of control. Why is it that our tax dollars go to give Senators a pension after they’ve only been in office for one term. They make more money after they are out of office than when they served our country.
If you want to stimulate something, you actually have do something that would feel good. Until then this economy is going be stuck for awhile.
