A visitor replied to my post on Susan Sarandon Bashing Hillary Clinton. In the last couple of weeks I’ve been called a racist (tell my brown skinned children I’m a racist), an idiot (nothing could be further from the truth), a loser, a bitch and a Republican (I was a Democrat up until this past June and am now a Libertarian, but seeing how Republicans, unlike the Democrats, stand up for their female politicians, I take that as a compliment) by Obama supporters that have visited this blog. But, even though this visitor actually agrees with what Susan Sarandon says, I’ll reply anyway.

But you guys (GIRLS), Susan Sarandon is RIGHT. It does set us back to blame the loss on sexism. I am trying to figure out what all of the misogyny & sexism was…can someone please tell me? Can you possible pull the lens back a bit and look at this as it sucks when your candidate does not advance to the next round but claiming SEXISM over it is setting us back further than we were before it all started? If there is real evidence of this, can someone please share with me? I am not a troll, just trying to find a place where all the PUMAs don’t start attacking and pounce & tell me I have “poopie in [my] pants” …can anyone engage in an actual discussion here? Thanks
And then because I didn’t jump at the chance to defend myself and it took me more than a day to reply, I got this;
guess you can’t engage in intelligent conversation. You guys make great Republicans
Newsflash….if you bothered to read the About Us, you would have read that I have THREE CHILDREN, which means my life doesn’t revolve around answering your comment. Also you would have known that I’m not a Republican.
The point of my post was that, in my opinion Susan, a Democrat, shouldn’t have publicly called Hillary a “blamer and whiner”. Talk about kicking a sister when they’re down. The woman lost, what more would Susan like. It appears Susan (like Barbara Steisand-who I posted about also) only supports women who think like her? That’s where she and I differ.
You say it sets us back to blame the loss on sexism. For Susan to claim that the only reason Hillary got where she was is because she was a woman, is what sets us back. There was TONS of sexism towards Hillary and I never heard her “whine” about it. Her supporters complained about it though…loud and clear. Here’s what Hillary said on May 20, 2008;
In an interview after church services in Bowling Green on Sunday, Clinton for the first time addressed what women have been talking about for months, what she refers to as the “sexist” treatment she has endured at the hands of the pundits, media and others. The lewd T-shirts. The man who shouted “Iron my shirt” at a campaign event. The references to her cleavage and her cackle.
“It’s been deeply offensive to millions of women,” Clinton said. “I believe this campaign has been a groundbreaker in a lot of ways. But it certainly has been challenging given some of the attitudes in the press, and I regret that, because I think it’s been really not worthy of the seriousness of the campaign and the historical nature of the two candidacies we have here.”
Later, when asked if she thinks this campaign has been racist, she says she does not. And she circles back to the sexism. “The manifestation of some of the sexism that has gone on in this campaign is somehow more respectable, or at least more accepted, and . . . there should be equal rejection of the sexism and the racism when it raises its ugly head,” she said. “It does seem as though the press at least is not as bothered by the incredible vitriol that has been engendered by the comments by people who are nothing but misogynists.”
You want to see sexism…take a look at this;
And for Susan to say “Instead of saying, ‘Look how far I’ve gotten and you can do it too” shows me that she was never a Hillary supporter because that was part of Hillary’s message all along.
Hillary took (and is obviously still taking) abuse from not only her own party but from the media. I like to see Susan try and be brave in the face of that. No, it’s easier to insult her and call her names.
So when Obama plays the race card, is he “whining and blaming”? Why is it that when women demand fair and equal treatment its called “whining?” If that guy who told Hillary to “iron his shirts” held up a sign at an Obama rally that said “pick my cotton”, there would have been a riot. Why is sexism accepted and racism rejected?
