Drilling In America

Posted by Billy

Should we start drilling in America? We need to stop asking this question and start drilling. One big issue with drilling in America is that the “sheeple” say “not in my backyard”. Why not?

We are too dependent on foreign oil and we are all paying for it at the pumps. When we start drilling, it will start the process of us being a more independent country. The country is so brainwashed by the thought of us drilling here would be a bad thing. Well what the hell do you think is going on now? Yes, oil has pulled back to $121 a barrel, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to stay there for long. At this rate the price will be higher than it’s high of $147 a barrel by this time next year.

What do we do then? Complain and discuss about drilling here again? We need to do it now, not next year or next decade.

It is estimated that there’s enough oil in the Gulf of Mexico to last us 30 years (that seems to be enough for me). With alternative energy and the technology that we have now, we can be free of oil dependency in 35-40 years. What do we do for the other 5-10 years in that equation? Well it will take about five years before we even start bringing oil up out of the Gulf. As the country makes a full-all-out campaign to remove our dependency, we will start using less oil each year as it goes forward (stretching out that number).

These reports that state that we’ll have alternative energy replacing only 40% of our oil use by 2030 are just a political way to get the masses to believe it.

If we want to really move forward in this task, we need to make sacrifices. I live in Florida and have no problem drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. I’ve been to the Gulf many times and I can pretty much say that I’ll never see an oil rig from the shore. The gulf is over 617,000 square miles which is 30,000 square miles bigger than the state of Alaska and one fifth the size of the continental United States.

As for drilling in Alaska, I agree with leaving the ANWAR area off limits for now. The area is subjected to major climate changes and the costs would be much higher. If we as a country to seriously work together, we won’t ever need to mess with the area.

We need to stop making excuses about drilling in America and start doing it.

If you have any comments to this post, please feel free (as a free American) to do so.

HAVING BEEN A DRILLER ON A WORKOVER RIG IN NORTHERN MONTANA I HAD A CHANCE TO WORK WITH A COUPLE OF ENGINNER’S FROM CANADA THAT DRILLED A FLOWING WELL FROM A FIELD THAT SHELL HAD GIVEN UP ON. THIS WAS AS SIMPLE AS PLUGGING THE WELL ON THE TRACT AND REDRILLING. THE WHOLE SECRET IS SO SIMPLE. IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT DRILLING YOU KNOW THE DRILLING MUD,CEMENT FOR THE CASING AND THE SLAG LEFT BY THE PERFORATIONS ALL HURT THE FLOW OF OIL. ADD TO THIS THE BLEEDING OFF OF THE NATURAL GAS AND OVER PRODUCTION CAUSES CHANNELING IN THE SANDS.THEN WE GO AND INJECTED WATER TRYING TO “SKIM” MORE OIL OUT OF THE SANDS. WE DO NOT HAVE TO CHANGE THE DRILLING RIGS,THE PIPELINES AND EQUIPMENT ARE ON LOCATION. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS QUIT USING A 150 YEAR OLD METHOD. THIS WORKED,WELL PAID OFF IN 3 WEEKS AND FLOWED FOR A YEAR ON A 5/64 CHOKE.SINCE MY DRILLING BIT WAS LEFT IN THE HOLE WITH A SEATING NIPPLE 1 STAND UP ALL THEY DID WAS RUN PUMP AND RODS AND HOOKED UP THE PUMPING JACK. DO WE HAVE ANY “OIL FIELD TRASH” OUT THERE THAT CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT WE DID DIFFERENTLY THAN THE OLD METHOD. 1 HINT IS ALL YOU GET,CASING WAS SET ABOVE THE PRODUCTION ZONE.THIS PLAN IS FOR AMERICA,BEEN SPREADING THE WORD FOR 4 YEARS. IS THEIR AN WILD CATTER OUT THERE THAT WANTS TO KNOW MORE.THIS IS NOT FOR THE LARGE OIL COMPANY’S THAT HAVE KEPT AMERICA HOSTAGE FOR ALL THESE YEARS. INSTEAD OF INJECTING WATER TO TRY AND GET OIL OUT OF THE SANDS WHAT PRODUCT IN CANADA ARE THEY USING FOR INJECTION.WHO EVER THOUGHT THAT OIL & WATER MIXED?

You might not see the oil rig from the shore, but you sure do see the oil when those rigs explode and the currents wash it all onto land. Look at the situation we’re in now! No tourism dollars for the Gulf Coast this summer until the mess is cleaned up. Can you imagine what that will do to small local communities that rely on tourism to maintain their economy?

A few of my friends have been recommending your blog recently, but I never bothered to look at first. Now that I’ve actually Having now read your writing I must say that it is really impressive and I really hope this carries on well into the future. Often, it helps me get through a hard day as I like to read blogs I am interested in to relax. Your writing helps me to do precisely that. I am extremely appreciative of that, definitely. If you don’t mind me asking, how long have you been a part of this kind of work for? I’m merely wondering since I am really considering starting this myself. Of course, if you don’t wish to let me know, I understand, and I wish you luck with your blog nonetheless. Your site is wonderful!

I perfectly agree with most of this. The part where he said 30 yrs was seriously mistaken. There is enough oil underground in the rockies that will last us over 2,000 YEARS!!! Itll drop the price per barrel from $121 to $16 dollars a barrel. Its called the brakken oil. everyone look it up and research it. Ive created a facebook page just for this topic. its called the saveamericaact2011. If enough ppl complain to congress and demand to drill on the brakken it will happen and all this countries debt and most of the unemployment will be taken care of! its your choice america!

This song asks, why can’t we drill in the USA?

A song written by award-winning songwriter Rita W. Jones, and performed by David Zychek, with videography by Troy Shaw. DO YOU KNOW A STRUGGLING AMERICAN FARMER? DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS UNEMPLOYED BECAUSE THEIR JOB WAS SHIPPED OVERSEAS? ARE YOU TIRED OF SEEING AMERICA DEPENDENT ON OTHER COUNTRIES? Then we invite you to join us and “TAKE STOCK IN AMERICA!”

Good video as well as the song and words. I do have to say thought that America has to stop sitting around and waiting for Washington to fix the problems. Buying things made in the USA isn’t as easy as it use to be, but it can be done on a limited scare. If you really want to buy something made here, then stop shopping at Walmart like most of American people do.
