Financial Aid

Posted by Billy On July - 31 - 2008

Senator Bob Menendez was talking today on the senate floor trying to push a financial aid resolution. Listening to him speak as well as any other politician, has to be the most boring, mind-numbing thing that one could possibly do.

The politicians blow so much smoke up each others butt that it sad. I’m sure that many of them have insecurity issues. With all the back-slapping that goes on, how do they get anything done. I understand the politic side of networking, but this is ridiculous. I had to turn off the TV after 15 minutes from all the shenanigans. In that time I heard three senators mention that they wanted to get this or that done before their summer break. Maybe they should not be allowed to break till they get all these issues accomplished.

If you sit down and watch CSPAN, then you know what I’m talking about.

Back to Senator Menendez, he mentioned that he was able to able to get the education that he need to get to get where he’s at today. That today’s children should be able to get the same benefits without the worry of debt. I agree with that, but if wants to get this resolution passed then maybe he needs to cut some of the other bills he’s looking to get passed. Yes we need to look out for the children of today to protect out future. How are we protecting them with government programs and spending out of control.

Illegal Aliens

Posted by Billy On July - 30 - 2008

What is going on in this country? Our government is sandbagging the issue on illegal aliens and everything that is involved with it. Politicians are not doing what they’re need to do with millions people of foreigners who are not suppose be here.

The south border fence that needs to be built across our border is taking way too long to complete. First they came out with the idea of making it an “invisible” fence. Oh that was a great idea. Now we’re able to watch them cross into our territory. What was the thought process behind that?

At this moment we’re building an actual fence that is to be completed by “some time” in 2009. During this time Mexicans are crossing the border without enough people patrolling the area. The ones that are on patrol are not allowed to use excessive force without being interrogated to no end. The two border agents that shot an “unarmed” Mexican drug dealer at the border were convicted and sentenced for 11-12 years. What’s your definition of unarmed? To me when there’s a foreigner who selling drugs in our country, he’s armed and dangerous. Dangerous to the well being of our families, as well as our laws. What were they suppose to do? Arrest him and lock him up where we would be pay for his well-being while he’s in jail awaiting sentencing. To spend our tax dollars to feed and clothes him, bog down our court system with his hearing is not acceptable. We all know that it would take forever for us to extradite him. The Mexican government would not help with us with any part of the process.

As for the ones that are here already, they should be sent home right after the fence is completed. For the sympathizers of foreigners, why don’t you go back to Mexico with them and help change the things that they don’t like in their country that makes them want to come here. In regards to all the jobs that would be vacant from their dismissal… maybe it would remove the unemployment issue in this country.

Come to think of it, it could possibly get rid of the welfare issue too (but that’s for another rant).

Drilling In America

Posted by Billy On July - 30 - 2008

Should we start drilling in America? We need to stop asking this question and start drilling. One big issue with drilling in America is that the “sheeple” say “not in my backyard”. Why not?

We are too dependent on foreign oil and we are all paying for it at the pumps. When we start drilling, it will start the process of us being a more independent country. The country is so brainwashed by the thought of us drilling here would be a bad thing. Well what the hell do you think is going on now? Yes, oil has pulled back to $121 a barrel, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to stay there for long. At this rate the price will be higher than it’s high of $147 a barrel by this time next year.

What do we do then? Complain and discuss about drilling here again? We need to do it now, not next year or next decade.

It is estimated that there’s enough oil in the Gulf of Mexico to last us 30 years (that seems to be enough for me). With alternative energy and the technology that we have now, we can be free of oil dependency in 35-40 years. What do we do for the other 5-10 years in that equation? Well it will take about five years before we even start bringing oil up out of the Gulf. As the country makes a full-all-out campaign to remove our dependency, we will start using less oil each year as it goes forward (stretching out that number).

These reports that state that we’ll have alternative energy replacing only 40% of our oil use by 2030 are just a political way to get the masses to believe it.

If we want to really move forward in this task, we need to make sacrifices. I live in Florida and have no problem drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. I’ve been to the Gulf many times and I can pretty much say that I’ll never see an oil rig from the shore. The gulf is over 617,000 square miles which is 30,000 square miles bigger than the state of Alaska and one fifth the size of the continental United States.

As for drilling in Alaska, I agree with leaving the ANWAR area off limits for now. The area is subjected to major climate changes and the costs would be much higher. If we as a country to seriously work together, we won’t ever need to mess with the area.

We need to stop making excuses about drilling in America and start doing it.

Change He Can Roll Around In

Posted by Joanne On July - 29 - 2008

I just came across this cartoon of Obama and had to share it here.

Photobucket

Obama’s decision to become the first major party candidate to opt out of public financing for the general election opened up the Democrat to accusations of a reversal on past statements that he would take the public grant and limit spending to that amount if the Republican nominee agreed to do likewise.

And if Barockstar Obama had his way, he wouldn’t even need to come in contact with his donors because after all, he only needs their money.

When Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell suggested Obama reschedule a Philadelphia fund raiser because many donors were headed to the New Jersey shore for the weekend, Obama said, in a sign of the urgency to raise campaign cash, “We don’t need the people. We just need the checks.” I guess Obama thinks donors are just lining up to throw money at his feet without even meeting him.
